MAUI VIEWS KOHALA VACATION RENTALS
AND GETAWAY RETREAT

Located in breezy North Kohala on the Big Island of Hawaii, birthplace of Kamehameha the Great, MAUI VIEWS KOHALA Vacation Rentals is situated in the lush landscape surrounding the former sugar plantation town of Hawi. A half hour west of Waimea (Kamuela) or a stunning half-hour drive from west-end resort beaches, Hawi draws folks in with its colorful shops and world-class dining (the Bamboo Restaurant is a must!). For who could ever tire of traveling over Route 250 (known as the Mountain Road) where you can pull over to marvel at amazing panoramic views of all the island’s major mountains and its western shoreline? Or choose awe-inspiring Route 270, the so-called Ocean Road, where, from December through April, you can view humpback whales right from your car, along with pods of spinner dolphins.

Tucked away in this sleepy little town halfway between mile markers 19 & 20, MAUI VIEWS KOHALA Vacation Rentals is a unique opportunity to join us in experiencing Old Hawaii in a serene country setting. Sitting atop verdant fields, breathtaking views of Maui make this sister island appear as though conjured by the blue Pacific.

Hawi has much to offer – starting with some of the cleanest air on the planet. Experience the feel of Old Hawaii with its tropical landscape, slow pace and funky little shops – only minutes from the black sands of Pololu Valley to the north, or the white sand resort beaches to its south. Shop in a vast array of galleries – dine on sushi and local fare – or buy your own fresh organic produce at the weekly farmers’ market. And while you’re at it, take advantage of a number of healing modalities from massage to acupuncture, yoga classes, even chelation therapy to remove toxins from the body. Or simply hit the beach and come back to relax on the deck overlooking green fields and the vast turquoise ocean. Visit Hawi’s sister town of Kapa’au, site of the Kamehameha statue, for its grocery and hardware stores, restaurants, library, bank, and the largest used bookstore on the islands!

Built before Hawaii was a state and for years a hula school for young women, MAUI VIEWS KOHALA Vacation Rentals has been completely restored from the ground up, creating touches of elegance yet deeply respecting the spirit of the land it sits upon. All our water is solar heated (with backup electric just in case). Natural, nontoxic cleaning products are used wherever and whenever possible. Low impact use with a high level of comfort is our goal.

This area of Kohala was once designated as a nature park, and is surrounded by old growth Norfolk pines, ironwoods, and lush fields and landscape.

Star gazing is encouraged at night, where the absence of city lights gives Mother Nature center stage. Surround yourself with beauty and comfort while experiencing a forgotten slice of island living in your own ocean view suite.
